Research Experience

​

Biomedical Research Intern - West Virginia University (May 2022 - July 2022)

PI: Mark Olfert, Ph.D. & Duaa Dakhlallah Ph.D.

Worked in a lab focusing on the physiological effects of E-cigarettes. Performed Mouse Endothelial Cell (MUVEC) culturing, extracellular vesicle (EV) collection, organ harvesting, and storage, blood plasma isolation, running and maintenance of E-cigarette vaping chambers, handling of rats, and data analysis; to show extracellular vesicles in offspring with perinatal vape exposure impairs in-vitro endothelial cell function.

 

Undergraduate Researcher - CSU Chico (November 2020 - May 2022)

PI: Gerald Manuel Cobián, Ph.D.

Performed fungal culturing, serial dilutions, DNA extractions, PCR, and gel electrophoresis to identify the fungi within the microbiome of the Blunt-Nosed Leopard Lizard.

 

Graduate Researcher - CSU Chico (Current)

PI: David M. Keller, Ph.D.

Investigating the effect of the micropeptide (mitoregulin) in pancreatic beta cells. Performing restriction digests, western blotting, plasmid creation, pancreatic islet isolation, cell culturing, and cell assays.

Tutor students in numerous subjects when needed, communicated with parents about their children, and facilitated activities for children
